SUMMARY OF SEASON 2021
Again, a season which suffered from the pandemic restrictions and the resulting lack of "fishing effort". The last two months of the season saw the bulk of the Salmon and Grilse catch.
Some excellent days, and catches, were recorded by those fishing for Brown Trout.
Those who fished sent back overwhelming reports of enjoyment of their day on the river. One angler, who not only recorded landing two Trout of 4lbs amongst his day's catch, was delighted to see both a Roe Deer Doe with her Fawn and, later, in the day, a Badger. The wider aspect of a day fishing on water, such as at Castle Forbes, can offer the angler so much!
Whether a useful guide or not, the salmon catch compared with the fishing effort, shows success on average of one in four days. In reality, this is probably little different to the major, and better known, rivers in Scotland. The Don has that important extra dimension of fine wild Brown Trout.
